Carbon monoxide (CO) is produced when gas, oil, coal, or wood does not burn fully. It has no colour, no smell, and no taste, which makes it impossible to detect without proper equipment. Every year in the UK, carbon monoxide poisoning results in hospitalisations and fatalities that could have been prevented with proper testing and working detectors.

Our Gas Safe engineers use professional flue gas analysers to measure carbon monoxide levels in and around your gas appliances. This goes beyond what a standard CO alarm can tell you — we measure the exact parts per million being produced and identify whether an appliance is burning safely or needs attention. If we find a problem, we can often repair it on the same visit.

We also supply and install carbon monoxide detectors in the correct locations throughout your home. A properly placed, audible CO alarm is your first line of defence. We recommend testing at least annually, particularly if your property has older gas appliances or has not had a gas safety check recently.
